About
Sheila Oliva has wanted to write since she was in middle school. She had dreams of writing for Rolling Stone and traveling the world. After graduating college in the early 1990s with an English/Writing degree, she got her first gig at a local magazine. After a few short months as a local journalist covering the the social and restaurant scene, she discovered that, alas, it was not for her. By happenstance she landed a job as a tech writer at a large computer technology company, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Both by chance and in following small passions that popped up along the way in her various jobs, Sheila carved out a successful career in the online world of corporate communication. Starting with websites, then heading into email marketing and finally cutting her teeth in social media and blogging, Sheila enjoyed a career that constantly changed as new technology opened up new avenues on which to tell stories. She also added a Master's degree in Corporate and Public Communication, which served to write in stone her commitment and interest in her chosen profession. But, life has a way of constantly changing one's circumstances. And, after decades of working for many companies and organizations in varying industries and taking direction from management on what to write about, she decided she needed a change. She had, after all, never completely lost her desire to be a writer of her own stories. So, when the opportunity presented itself (i.e., she got sidelined from life with Long Covid for six months!), she decided to dedicate herself to returning back to the pure hell of staring at a blank screen/piece of paper and answering the question: "What should I write about today?" This website is her answer. |
